How we want to create an environment of efficiency

As the Government published its long-awaited transport decarbonisation plan, which includes proposals to end the sale of new heavy vans and trucks powered by fossil fuels and electrifying the Government fleet, Filofile invested in a new, clean, Euro 6 compatible van – possibly the last diesel van we are likely to purchase.

Ministers are proposing a 2035 end date for the sale of new internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles weighing from 3.5 to 26 tonnes and 2040 for vehicles weighing more than 26 tonnes.

It has previously said that it will end the sale of new petrol and diesel cars and vans by 2030, with hybrids banned from 2035.

Filofile has taken the decision to absorb additional costs incurred with the recent changes aimed at helping the environment announced in Bath and Bristol. However, with the City of Bath operating a Clean Air Zone (CAZ) in the city centre 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year and charges applied to pre-euro 6/VI diesel and pre-euro 4 petrol vehicles, (with the exception of cars and motorbikes) and Bristol looking at bringing in similar measures, it makes sense to take a look at how we can all assist the environment.

At Filofile we operate four retrieval levels for our customers. Clients can request Non-Urgent, Next Day or Same Day delivery. Priority and emergency requests can be delivered within two hours of your order, provided you are within an hour’s drive of Filofile’s location. We also operate a delivery within a six hour window. Depending on the volume you store with us we also provide a free NEXT DAY retrieval allowance tailored to meet your individual needs.

We think you’ll agree that our retrieval levels are some of the most flexible you will find in this sector, but it is worth businesses considering how often they request retrievals and whether they can plan ahead so they are choosing the non-urgent option. In the case where several departments require a retrieval service it makes sense to collaborate in order to see if pick-ups can be coordinated and made together. This approach not only saves on costs to clients, but also reduces petrol consumption and helps the environment. If we are able to plan retrieval sin advance we are then able to rationalise our schedules, saving on mileage and creating an environment of efficiency!
